Kuishin-Bo @ Suntec CIty

Dates visited:
31st Jan 2011

I must confess, I was not a Japanese food lover - until I had an assumptious buffet in Kuishin-Bo! I had never tried anything beyond Teriyaki Chicken and had not known that any other Japanese dish existed beyond the Teriyaki flavour.

It just so happened that we decided to go to Kuishin-Bo for a 60-min Japanese buffet today. The place is quite accessible (right next to my office tower) and well located in the central zone of Singapore. The restaurant does get a little crowded during lunch time but they have sufficient places to accommodate a large crowd. It is advisable to reserve a place though.

Indulge yourselves in a buffet of salads to begin with. A range exists for you to try out a small portion of everything but beware - you need to save space for the main course which is an extensive range of delicacies.

There was a huge variety of seafood to choose from - ranging from oysters to sushi to fish to prawns to crabs. They had multiple varieties of meat such as chicken, pork and beef. For the vegetarians, there were vegetarian varieties as well though not as much as the meat and seafood varieties.

One of the most treasured dish was the garlic butterfly prawns - yummiest of all. Very subtly cooked and very mild taste of garlic. When you smell the aroma of the prawns, you would want to immerse your taste buds in them. The crabs are crispy and yet soft. The black pepper beef was tender and blend of pepper with meat was just right. The Ebi Tomato Pasta was just average - not a dish to look out for!

For the vegetarians, I would recommend that you try the vegetarian Udon soup - this is a thick noodle soup with spring onions, carrots and light soya sauce. The Potato Butter Yaki was a delicacy by itself. Tender - Lightly salted - Buttered!

There was a buffet of desserts as well which consisted of a range of cakes, chocolate fondue with marshmallows, fresh assorted fruits, ice kachang (the local dessert), range of flavoured tea and soft drinks. However, there was no authentic Japanese dessert that we could savour there.

Indulge yourself into this Japanese Buffet and eat to your heart's content!
